Access, peer-reviewed, online journal adopting a broad
definition of "medical informatics" and focusing on the
applied aspects of computers to healthcare delivery. In
the Indian Journal of Medical Informatics, all articles
are accessible FREE of charge (as HTML files). However,
PDF files are available only to
IAMI members. The
ISSNs of the journal are 0973-0379 and 0973-9254
(Online). It has a

RIOJA(Repository Interface for
Overlaid Journal Archives)2008.04.10 The RIOJA project will investigate the overlay of quality assurance onto papers deposited to and stored in eprints repositories. RIOJA is funded by the JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee, UK), as part of the Repositories and Preservation Programme. It is led by UCL (University College London), working with a partnership of academic researchers, librarians and repository administrators. The partner institutions are: UCL、 University of Cambridge、 Cornell University、 University of Glasgow、 Imperial College London RIOJA will create a tool to support automated interactions between journal software and public repositories. The project will also build a pilot "overlay journal", which will demonstrate interactions between the arXiv subject repository and OJS journal software, facilitated by the RIOJA tool. Additionally, RIOJA will explore some of the social and economic aspects of building certification onto repositories. A large-scale survey of researchers from the field of Astrophysics and Cosmology will be carried out, and a feasibility study on the costs and sustainability of an overlay journal in this field will be published. RIOJA runs from 01 March 2007 to 30 June 2008. |

The facts about Open Access2005.10 I am pleased to let you know that the substantial research study into the quickly evolving landscape of Open Access publishing has been released by ALPSP today (Tuesday 11 October 2005). A free to download pdf of the full report is available on our website ( www.alpsp.org ) together with the Overview section (the first 32 pages of the report) and a press release. The priced printed version of the report (which is 128 pages long) can also be ordered online. As you will know this new study ‘The Facts About Open Access’ was sponsored by ALPSP with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and HighWire Press, with additional data from the Association of American Medical Colleges. The research was conducted by the independent consultants Kaufman-Wills Group LLC. It makes fascinating and instructive reading. As Sally says in her introduction: “Discussion of Open Access tends to be strong on rhetoric but short on facts. But now we have, for the first time, a substantial body of data about different forms of Open Access publishing, and a baseline of comparison with traditional subscription publishing.” |
